The guest room door shut with a click that sounded too loud.
JJ turned the lock.
I hit the lamp instead of the overhead. Warm. Low. Enough to see them. Not enough to make this feel like a performance.
JJ crossed to Benny first. She put her hands on his face and kissed him slow. His good arm wrapped around her waist and pulled her in carefully, like she was something he still couldn’t believe he was allowed to touch.
I came up behind her.
My mouth found the side of her neck. She made a small sound against Benny’s lips and reached back for my belt without looking. Benny’s eyes opened over her shoulder and locked on mine.
I kissed him over her shoulder.
It was messier this time. Hungrier.
