The words landed differently now that there was an actual plan behind them.
For the last several hours, Nixx had sat in Benny’s living room doing the one thing that seemed completely unnatural for him. Waiting. He had watched maps, counted vehicles, listened to Jarek’s reports, and forced himself not to charge toward Millie simply because we finally knew where she was.
Now the waiting was over.
Nixx slipped his phone into his pocket and reached for the sweatshirt he had tossed across the chair earlier. The movement made my stomach twist because suddenly everything became real in a way photographs and maps hadn’t managed.
He was going to that house.
To Bones. Razor. Whoever else Hell’s Fire had waiting there.
To Millie.
