By the time we finished with the papers, I had everything separated into folders. Dane had complained about my system twice and then admitted he could find everything. I counted that as a win. I put the folders somewhere safe before returning to the table.
My phone was still beside Dane.
I picked it up and checked the messages I'd missed while it was turned off. Most were from people at the compound, and there were several from Mira and Harlow. I answered those quickly before another name caught my attention.
Sienna.
She'd sent me a message.
I opened it and read it twice. There wasn't anything dramatic in it. She was only asking how I was doing and whether everything was okay.
But she'd reached out first.
I sat down again.
Dane looked over at me. "Everything okay?"
"Yea
