(Cassidy) The next morning came quicker than I wanted it to. I woke up before the alarm and lay still for a moment staring at the ceiling. Dane was asleep beside me, one arm stretched across the mattress where I'd been a few minutes earlier. The room was quiet except for the sound of his breathing. I slipped out of bed and headed for the kitchen. Coffee came first. It always did. By the time Dane walked in twenty minutes later I was halfway through my second cup. His hair was a mess and he looked like he'd only opened one eye all the way. He stopped long enough to pour himself coffee before dropping into the chair across from me.
