The afternoon dragged.
Same customers. Same orders. Same routine.
But I couldn't stop watching. Every person who walked in. Every face. Every movement.
Looking for something. Anything.
A guy in his thirties came in around two. Sat at the bar. Ordered a burger and a beer.
I watched him. The way he looked around. The way he kept glancing at Mira.
"You see that guy?" I asked Dane.
He looked over. "Yeah. Been watching him."
"He keeps looking at Mira."
"A lot of guys look at Mira."
"Not like that."
Dane stood up. Walked to the bar. Sat down next to the guy.
Started talking to him. Casual. Friendly.
I stayed where I was. Watching.
After a few minutes, Dane came back.
"He's a regular," Dane said. "Comes in once a week. Works construction. Just got off shift."
"You sure?"
