Mira was still awake when I finally told her.
She'd been lying against me for a while, quiet in the way she got when she knew something was sitting with me that I hadn't said out loud yet. I'd been going back and forth on it long enough that keeping it from her had stopped feeling like protection and started feeling like something else entirely.
So I said it.
"Nolan's here. I found him a few days ago. He's been at a safe house since then."
She went still against me. Not scared. Just processing.
Then she sat up.
"Days," she said.
"Yeah."
"You've had him for days and you said nothing."
"I was handling it."
She looked at me with that expression she had when she was deciding how angry to actually get. "That's not an answer Ridge."
"It's the only one I've got right now."
