I found Cassidy exactly where I expected.
She stood with Marie and Mira in the common area. Marie was seated while Mira gently held Sarah, swaying with her as they talked. Cassidy turned when I came closer, and her whole face brightened the moment she saw me.
"There you are," Cassidy said.
"I've been looking for you."
She smiled and walked over until she was standing in front of me.
"You finished?"
"For now."
Marie looked up from her chair with a knowing smile.
"I was wondering how long it'd take before one of you came looking for the other."
Cassidy laughed.
"You know us too well."
"I've had plenty of years to figure you two out."
I reached for Cassidy's hand without thinking. She slipped her fingers through mine as naturally as she always did.
