I stepped out of our room and pulled the door closed behind me. For a few minutes, I'd been able to forget everything waiting outside. The second I walked into the hallway, all of it came back.
The compound had gone quieter while I'd been with Cassidy. Most of the brothers had turned in for the night, but a few were still awake, moving between buildings or covering watch. Nobody believed this was over yet.
Turner was waiting in Ridge's office when I walked in. Ridge stood beside the desk while Turner sat in front of the computer. They both looked up as soon as I entered.
