(Dane) Trent stayed silent long enough that I wondered whether he planned to change his mind about talking. Ridge didn't ask again or give him anything to work with. Turner remained beside the table with his laptop open while Knox guarded the door. I kept my eyes on Trent. "It started with money," Trent said. He rubbed his palms against his jeans and looked down. "I owed more than I could pay back." He didn't look at any of us. Nobody interrupted him. I hadn't known Trent had money problems, and it looked like Knox hadn't either. Trent lived here with the rest of us and had plenty of chances to ask for help. Instead, he'd kept it hidden. Somehow, that had opened the door for Priest. "Who did you owe?" Ridge asked. He remained across from Trent. His eyes stayed on him while he waited.
