Kennis
"I love you..." The words slipped from my mouth, but they were true. I loved Diara Sinclair. Her body went rigid. I kissed her softly and then pulled away, propping my elbow against the mattress.
"Y- you love me?" Her voice was hesitant.
I nodded. Diara caressed my face with her hand, and I kissed it gently. She leaned in to kiss me again, then pulled back, smiling. "I love you too, Kennis."
We held each other in silence, savoring the moment. She meant everything to me, and I would do anything to protect her. I would never forgive myself for losing her the first time.
"Kennis..."
"Hm?"
"We need to help the people in the Day Break Pack. They are in danger. Horus is using them for wars," she said. I could hear the exhaustion in her voice.
"We will, I promise," I assured her
