Chapter 19. Isadora approached the counter, her fingers digging into the fabric of the silver dress. Every step she took felt like walking through a minefield. Her heart was hammering against her ribs, skipping beats in a way that made her feel lightheaded. She had a sinking feeling that something else was going to happen, although she prayed she could just pay and disappear into the crowd. Isadora pushed the trolley filled with office wear and casual clothes forward, her other hand still clutching the silver dress like it was already her possession.
