Chapter Fifty Five The heavy wooden chapel doors were incredibly massive, thick, and imposing as the entire motorcycle club gathered inside the dark room. The air was filled with a thick, suffocating cloud of cigar smoke and the heavy scent of leather and stale beer. Stone stood tall right at the head of the long mahogany table, his rugged face looking as if it were completely carved from a solid block of dark stone. He looked entirely calm to the rest of the room, but because I knew his body so well, I could see the intense, tight tension bunching up the muscles in his broad shoulders. The visiting high-ranking National officers and his mother sat tightly together on one side of the long table, their postures straight and their faces looking completely confident.
