Chapter Ninety Six : Distract Him
Veronica’s POV
"I need you to keep Moteno occupied for a while," Bruno said, his voice low and calculating. "Just keep him distracted, entertained, whatever it takes. I have some important business to attend to, and I can't have him interfering."
I nodded, understanding the implication. I was to be a pawn in Bruno's game, a tool to be used and discarded. But I also knew that this could be my chance to gather information, to find a way to escape.
"What do you want me to do?" I asked, trying to sound obedient.
"Just be your charming self," Bruno replied, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Keep him talking, keep him laughing. And most importantly, keep him away from me."
