Veronica’s POV
As I slowly opened my eyes, the hospital room came into focus. Bruno's worried face hovered above me, his eyes filled with relief. "Hey, you're awake," he whispered, his voice trembling.
I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through my head, making me wince. "Ow, what happened?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Bruno gently pushed me back down, his hand tenderly stroking my hair. "We were hit by a car, but we're going to be okay. The doctors say we'll both recover."
As I lay there, my mind raced with memories of the accident. The sound of screeching tires, the impact, the darkness. It was all so surreal.
