I didn’t need to listen to the rest of the story to understand what really happened. But what I do not understand is why she had to leave because of such a trivial mistake. However, if she has a father like Viscount Maximus, then it's possible.
Also, why didn’t her self-righteous brother try to save her?
As if she could read my mind she sighed as she explained further. “I couldn’t face my family after bringing so much shame to them, so I left.” She stood up and cracked her knuckles. “I thought that wandering around would bring me close to my mate, but I guess I was wrong. The goddess didn’t bestow me on a mate.”

She left because she was ashamed and she was out there because she was hoping to find her destined mate.
