Luca POV Riley made me wait until the following evening. She refused to discuss her conditions over breakfast, during lunch, or while we walked along the edge of the pool. Every time I asked, she told me she was still thinking. By sunset, I had begun to suspect she was enjoying my impatience. We sat on the terrace while the sky slowly changed above the sea. Riley had a notebook open on her lap. An actual notebook. I stared at it. “You wrote them down.” “Yes.” “How many are there?” “Enough.” “That is not a number.” “You will survive.” I leaned back carefully in the chair. My ribs were improving, but every deep breath still reminded me of the crash.
