I should have known bringing the children to an evening test session would become a problem.
The test had been added to my schedule at the last minute because the team wanted extra data before the next race weekend. Usually, that would not have mattered. I would have gone to the facility, completed the laps, attended the technical meeting afterward, and returned home before midnight. The children would have remained at the mansion with Martha, and everything would have been simple.
Unfortunately, Martha had already promised to attend her sister’s birthday dinner, James had several appointments outside the house, and my mother was away for the evening.
