Luca POV I told myself Riley’s date had nothing to do with me. It was a simple thought, reasonable and easy to understand, yet it became increasingly difficult to believe as the evening approached and the entire house seemed to become involved in helping her prepare. Sophie had spent almost an hour inside Riley’s room choosing between shoes, while the twins moved through the hallway making loud wedding plans that nobody had asked for. Even Martha seemed amused by the excitement, although she wisely avoided commenting whenever I passed. I stayed in my office and attempted to work. Attempted was the important word.
