“Mum,” I pleaded. “Please make him stop.”
“You look beautiful, baby,” she said with a smile, “but you also look like me at your age, which means your dad is going to have a nervous breakdown every term until you’re married.”
“Married?!” I choked. “I haven’t even kissed anyone yet!”
The words slipped out louder than I meant them to, and the second they did, I knew I f****d up.
“Liar,” Jonah said immediately, crossing his arms like he was about to testify in court.
