Chapter Twenty-Nine

1981 Words

Avery POV: I awoke the next day. I forgot where I was, nearly falling off the couch as I rolled over, expecting to be in my own bed back at my apartment. Well, it had not been a nightmare, to my lasting disappointment. The sun had set entirely in the sky. My neck was sore from sleeping on the couch. Despite that, I did not remember waking up once during the night. It must have been the exhaustion. I sat up from the beige throw I remembered grabbing the night before as a cover, and realised there was a sizable wool blanket over me. I looked at the bed, remembering where I was. Sheets were scattered across a super king mattress. It was from where Blake Detroit had slept and risen. He must have placed this blanket over me when he got up. What did he care if I was comfortable on his couch?
