Kingsley “Damn it, Sara, pick up the phone,” Kingsley muttered under his breath, his thumb pressing the call button for the third time in quick succession. He paced across the polished wooden floor of his spacious living room, the city lights twinkling through the large floor-to-ceiling windows behind him. The line rang only once before it switched off abruptly, cutting straight to voicemail without giving him a chance to leave a message. Kingsley stared at the dark screen in disbelief, a tight knot of worry twisting harder in his chest.
