Asher leaned against me, resting his head on my shoulder. “Do you think they’ll ever leave us alone?” He asked quietly. I shook my head. “No. But that’s okay. We’ll be ready for them when they come. And we won’t be afraid anymore.” He looked up at me. “You’re… calm now. Different from before. I like it.” I smiled, leaning into him. “I like it too. I feel… normal. For now, at least.” The wolf inside me purred at the word. Normal. Safe. “What about my wolves? What if they see these giant wolves?” Dennis asked. “Tell them to steer clear. These wolves watching us will kill anything that they think is a threat. Which will be your wolves on patrol.” I said. Dennis looked at me with disdain again and everyone fell silent. But I looked away from him. I didn’t care how he felt about me. N
