The light hit the ground like thunder.
It spread through the field in rings of white and red, blinding and hot. My ears rang. The air cracked open, humming with so much power that even the ground seemed to breathe. The Eclipse wasn’t coming…it was here.
I couldn’t move. Every inch of me burned from the inside out. My mark pulsed like a second heartbeat, blue light spilling from my skin in waves that made the air shimmer.
