t was weeks before Ted found himself alone in a room for more than a few minutes with Daisy. He knew it was cowardice and even a bit immature, but he felt he was saving her from himself. He was up every morning early off to work, leaving Daisy small notes and envelopes of cash for lunch and other things she might need. He ordered her pizza and other takeout for dinner only calling to say he was working late. When he made it home, he quickly went up to his room and locked the door so she couldn’t get in. He was determined to sleep alone. Determined to keep Daisy’s tempting body out of his bed. It broke his heart when she cried one night outside his door, complaining once more how she couldn’t sleep, and needed to sleep with him.
