-Joseph- “Should we wake the princess to change the bed?” a nurse asks me. It didn’t take long for Cora to fall asleep after she delivered Peter. Her body went through so much, and while Thomas didn’t say it, I could tell by his face that he thought we almost lost her. Her heart was already exhausted, and labor pushed it as far as it could go. The nurses have been cleaning the room, and they cleaned around her as well as they could, but the padding we put on the bed needs to be removed. She looks so peaceful now, though, and I can sense Hera hard at work. “It can wait,” I tell them softly. “Let her sleep.” One of them nods. “Let us know when she wakes, and we will come to fix the bed.” Hazel follows them to the door. “I’ll be just outside if you need me.” I nod in thanks.
