I follow Randall out to the garden behind their packhouse and to a shed where he produces a shovel. He doesn’t hand it to me, though.
“We can go out to the graveyard,” he offers, but I shake my head.
“We can’t,” I say softly, staring at the small wooden box in my hands. It feels like they’re shaking, but they’re not. “No one can know about her. It will make us look weak.”
“Joseph,” he says, my name almost a gasp. “No one will think that.”
“It is KING Joseph,” I growl, grabbing the shovel from him roughly. “You need to focus more on keeping your borders secure than on what people will think.”
