My last words scared her.

She just stared at me like I’d grown another head — her lips parted, eyes wide, the color drained from her face.
She’d gone from jealous and ballistic to… catatonic.
And it was starting to worry me.
By the time we made it back to our room, she was still like that.
Moving but not speaking. Looking at me, but not really seeing me.
