I woke to the press of warmth against my collarbone, soft lips trailing with maddening patience. For a moment, I thought I was still dreaming—the kind of dream that made you ache when you wake—but then I heard the low rumble that followed each kiss. Derrick. He was grumbling something I didn’t quite catch, the sound vibrating into my skin, like his wolf was still half-asleep and muttering his thoughts aloud.
My lashes fluttered open, vision fogged, heart still caught somewhere between sleep and awareness. And before I could even blink the haze away, Dalton was on me. No prelude, no gentle easing into the morning. He crashed his mouth against mine, all teeth and tongue and unrestrained hunger, like he’d been holding his breath all night and I was the air he needed to keep living.
