Shawn Dating Lila officially changed almost nothing and somehow changed everything. She still rolled her eyes when I said something stupid. She still argued with me about strawberry milkshakes being better than chocolate, which was obviously wrong, and she still had this habit of pulling the sleeves of her hoodie over her hands whenever she got nervous. The difference was that now I could reach over, take one of those hands, and hold it without wondering whether I was crossing some line neither of us had talked about yet. I liked that part.
