Adaeze had prepared us for this, but not just for the ruling. She was careful because courts in Cook County didn't move that way. And the holiday docket compressed everything further. The judge would take the record, review, and issue a full decision in January. We had known this was the likely shape of it. I had said it to Sedona at one time in the morning in the kitchen. And she had agreed with me, and I had believed her when she nodded.
What we got was an interim order. Supervised visitation, pending the full ruling. Nick could see his mother, but at a neutral location in the presence of a social worker. Logan was notified of each arrangement. The full terms in writing by tomorrow morning, Adaeze said, but the substance was clear.
