Sara’s POV
I wrapped my arms tightly around myself as I walked faster.
The rain was falling heavily now, soaking my hair, my dress, my whole body. Cold water ran down my face, mixing with my tears until I could not tell the difference anymore.
I placed one hand on my stomach, holding it gently.
“Lucien… why are you doing this to me?” I whispered, my voice breaking.
My chest tightened as more tears slipped down my cheeks, even though the rain kept washing them away.
A sharp pain suddenly hit my stomach.
I gasped softly and held it again, this time more carefully, rubbing it in slow circles.
“We’ll get home soon… my little one,” I murmured weakly.
But even as I said it, I knew the truth.
The house was still locked.
I had nowhere to go.
The rain grew heavier, and I forced myself to walk faster. My body felt cold, and I began to shiver.
Then suddenly, a bright light cut through the darkness.
A loud horn followed.
I quickly stepped away from the road and turned.
A car was coming.
Hope flickered inside me.
I stood still, waiting as the car got closer. When it was near enough, I raised my hand and waved desperately.
The car slowed.
It stopped.
Relief washed over me.
But then… I froze.
That car.
I knew it.
My heart dropped.
It was Lucien’s car.
The window rolled down slightly, just enough for a hand to come out.
A piece of paper was thrown toward me.
Before I could even react, the window closed.
The car sped off.
“Lucien!” I shouted, running after it.
But I was too weak.
Too slow.
The car disappeared into the rain.
I stopped, breathing heavily, my chest rising and falling painfully.
Then I turned back and ran to where the paper had fallen.
It was already wet.
I bent down slowly, picking it up with trembling hands. The ink had started to spread, but I could still read it.
Hurry up, Sara. No one will pick you up.
My breath caught.
It was his handwriting.
Tears filled my eyes again.
Even now… he was mocking me.
The rain washed my face once more as I stood there, shaking.
Cold.
Alone.
Broken.
I slowly stood up and began to walk again.
Then I walked faster.
Then I started to run.
Mud splashed against my dress as my feet hit the ground again and again. I didn’t care anymore.
“I’m so useless…” I whispered to myself. “Just a worthless Luna…
Thunder crashed loudly above me, making me flinch.
But I didn’t stop.
I kept running.
—
By the time I reached the pack, it was already night.
The rain had reduced to a light drizzle, but I was completely soaked.
The guards opened the gate quickly when they saw me. Their faces showed shock, but I didn’t stop to look at them.
Lucien’s car was already parked in the garage.
The same car.
The same one that had left me behind.
I felt a sharp pain in my chest but ignored it and walked inside.
My body was trembling as I stepped into the pack house.
It was warm inside.
Too warm.
Sierra was there.
The moment she saw me, her eyes widened, and she rushed toward me.
“Sara! You’re soaked!” she said, holding my arm.
“You walked in the rain?” she asked again, her voice filled with worry.
I tried to speak, but no words came out.
I was too weak.
“Why would you do that? You’re pregnant!” she said, helping me inside.
We entered the sitting room.
Lucien was there.
Sitting comfortably.
Watching TV.
As if nothing had happened.
As if he hadn’t just left me in the rain.
His eyes moved to me, and he frowned slightly.
“Why are you soaked?” he asked.
I stared at him.
Was he pretending?
“Alpha, she came home in the rain,” Sierra answered for me.
Lucien stood up and walked toward me.
“Why would you do that?” he asked, his voice calm, almost concerned.
He was only doing this because Sierra was watching. It was all pretense.
My wolf growled inside me.
Slap him. Hurt him. Make him feel what you feel.
But I couldn’t.
I was too tired.
Too weak.
“Don’t you know that’s bad for the pup?” he added.
The same pup he wanted me to get rid of.
I felt something break inside me.
“I’m sure she didn’t think about that,” Sierra said softly.
Lucien stepped closer.
Then he wrapped his arms around my waist.
I froze.
His touch felt warm, but it didn’t feel real.
It felt fake.
Like everything else.
He leaned down and pressed a kiss on my forehead.
I shut my eyes tightly.
He was pretending.
Just because Sierra was here.
He didn’t want her to know the truth.
He saw me on the road walking alone in the rain.
And he still drove away.
Tears filled my eyes again, but I refused to let them fall.
I had cried too much already.
And right now…
I just needed to be strong.
For myself.
And for my baby.
