As soon as we reach the huge building, Shadow is jumping all over inside my head. I know I'm not like other kids. When Shadow first talked to me, I thought that everyone had this voice, this wolf inside them. When he told me not to tell anyone, even my mom, I knew I was different.
Everything smelled so strong. Sometimes it was so strong it would make my belly hurt. I've never liked loud sounds. Sometimes, certain sounds, no matter how loud they are, make my ears hurt. I don't like being touched by people except my mom. Her touch always makes me feel better. She knows just how to hug me. That was true until we moved in with Kael.
