I take a deep breath before I finally call out for Eli. Both Eli and Kael look toward me. Eli hops off his chair and races toward me.
"Mom, you're awake. Kael and I are watching Zootopia. Do you want to watch it with us? He has a popcorn machine like at the real movie theater," Eli says. I can't help the smile that spreads across my face at my son's enthusiasm.
"Actually, Eli, can I talk to your mom alone for a minute? I'll pause the movie, and you can go ask Jessie to cut you up an apple. Something healthy to balance out the treat," Kael says.
"Ok Kael. I'll be back. Remember what we talked about," Eli says before he takes off down the hallway.
What the hell did they talk about? Why is Kael all of a sudden spending time with Eli? Why the hell is he smiling?
