Beau dropped to one knee beside the stone before I could get another breath in. His fingers hovered over the smear of blood like touching it might shatter him. His voice came out low and rough. “This is fresh.” I swallowed, stepped forward, and pressed my fingertips to the crimson streak. Warm. Still warm.
