The alarm blared across the territory before anyone took their first breath of silence. A long, rising wail that echoed from the border towers. Not the usual alert. Not the patrol warning. This one vibrated through bone, through ground, through instinct. My wolf snapped her head up instantly. Theo reacted first, voice booming across the courtyard. “All pack members to defense positions. Move.” Wolves scattered, sprinting toward their assigned posts. Warriors shifted mid run. I saw streaks of grey and brown fur disappearing into formation lines. The entire pack moved like a single living organism, trained for war even if they had never fought one like this.
