I submitted my resignation letter to K&S Architects two days after the divorce papers were signed.
It didn't go well.
Katrina Storm—Adrian's brilliant, terrifying sister—refused to approve it.
The HR department wouldn't process it without her signature. I'd even offered to forfeit my year-end bonus, hoping that would convince them to let me go.
No dice.
"The company can't afford to lose talent of your caliber," the HR director had said with genuine regret. "Ms. Storm's orders were very clear. Your resignation is denied."
