Adrian's POV
The Lockwood Pack house was wrapped in deep, silent darkness.
I'd been parked outside the Lockwood mansion for a while now.
She'd told me she had a cold.
I'd wanted to take her home, but she'd worried about disturbing the Lockwood family.
It had been half an hour since she'd taken her medicine. She should be asleep by now.
But I still wanted to check on her.
The night servant let me in, then yawned and shuffled back toward the staff quarters.
I slowed my steps, careful not to wake the rest of the household. She'd only feel guilty if I did.
As soon as I entered the living room, I heard soft sounds coming from the kitchen.
I moved closer.
Then I heard Lina's voice.
"Is it ready yet?"
