A normal mother would have fought tooth and nail to keep her pup. Would have refused to let anyone take her child away.
But not Victoria Storm.
Her fingers trembled, just for a moment, before she slammed her hand down on the table. "How dare you! You have no right to question me!"
*Defensive,* Aurora noted. *Because she knows she failed him.*
"I'm not questioning," I said softly. "I'm just asking, on behalf of my husband... did you ever love him? Did you ever fight for him?"
"You don't understand how these things work!" Victoria's composure was cracking now, her voice rising. "The whole Storm Pack agreed. I was just a daughter-in-law, an outsider. What could I possibly have done?"
