The bedroom door clicked shut behind us.
"Why?" His voice was soft, but an unmistakable undercurrent of worry sharpened the quiet words.
I didn't hide anything from him. I pulled up Fiona's message and showed him the screen.
His gray eyes darkened as he read, that protective tension I'd come to recognize rippling through his shoulders.
"I don't know what Damon's planning," I said quietly, my hand instinctively moving to rest on my still-flat belly.
"Maybe... maybe we should leave for Ravenport tomorrow? Once we're back in North America, he'll have to be more careful. He can't actually risk an international incident between Britain and the US, right?"
