Expensive incense burned in ornate holders, but beneath its fragrance hung the acrid scent of an impending war.
Gloria Storm, the family matriarch who normally exuded dignified grace, now looked ready to verbally eviscerate her own son.
Her fury was magnificent—a tidal wave of righteous indignation that could drown lesser men.
Across from her, Victoria Storm sat with impeccable posture, her elegant features composed as she watched her husband get publicly destroyed by his own mother.
She was clearly enjoying every second of it.
