Jenkins pulled up the access log on his tablet within two minutes of arriving in the OR.
He looked at the screen. Then he looked at me.
"Ashley Haynes," he said. "East side entrance at five twenty one this morning. Medication room on the third floor at five forty three. Badge used on the outer door. Eleven minutes inside. She left the building at five fifty eight through the same entrance."
I had known it was her before he said a word. But hearing it confirmed out loud landed harder than I expected.
"She is not on shift yet?" I said.
Jenkins checked his screen. "She is scheduled for seven. She has not clocked in."
"Then she left and did not come back."
"Correct."
