Sara’s POV After school, the hallways were nearly empty, echoing with the sound of my own footsteps. Everyone else was either at practice, hanging out by the gates, or already on their way home. I should have been one of them. But no. Instead, I was heading toward the detention room like some kind of criminal. My stomach churned as I walked, and my backpack felt ten times heavier than usual. Every step reminded me of how unfair this was. I had never gotten detention before. Not once. My record was spotless. Teachers trusted me, even asked me to help collect assignments sometimes.
