I was desperate for her to say yes. I could see in her eyes that she wanted to, but she didn’t trust me enough with her heart yet. That was fine. I would earn that trust, just the way I’d earn her family’s respect.
I was kind of terrified of messing everything up with Troy and Kiana and Dash, but so far they seemed to like me. I was damn proud of that accomplishment, considering I’d basically invaded their territory and announced myself as their enemy’s father.
Of course, they didn’t know I’d already claimed their daughter. Hell. Maybe they’d kick my ass when they discovered that little detail. I was a father, for f**k’s sake. I wasn’t some boy fumbling around with his first crush. Though I’d had my son young, I was still fifteen years older than Simone.
I gulped at that thought.
