Kane’s entire body was…glowing. Not the simple thread I’d seen with Kellan, but an intricate web of interwoven magical energy that coated his skin from head to toe. The threads pulsed with power, some silver, some dark purple, some a sickly green that made me nauseous. This wasn’t just residual magic from the poison. This was embedded in him, woven into his very being. The complexity of it was overwhelming, layers upon layers of spells that had been building for years. “This magic isn’t from the beast,” I whispered to myself. “This is...his.” I’d never seen anything like it. The magical threads wrapped around him were so dense that it looked like he was wearing armor made of pure energy. But it didn’t feel protective. It felt invasive, wrong, like parasites feeding off his life force.
