(Reese) The lobby was empty when I came through the doors. I had needed the drive back to settle my head and it hadn't worked the way I wanted it to. The morning had started as something simple and had turned into something else entirely and I was still working through what that meant by the time I pushed through the entrance. Noah was coming out of the elevator as I was heading toward it. We both stopped. He took in the bags, then my face, and something shifted in his expression that he didn't try to cover. "Let me take those," he said. "I have them," I said. "Reese." "I said I have them." He stepped aside and held the elevator open without another word. I walked past him and he followed and the doors closed behind us. He hadn't pressed anything. "Weren't you leaving?" I said.
