I spot lady Yuna sitting anxiously by the waiting room when I enter, followed by Matthias.
When she notices us, she stands, bowing in respect. She looks different from how she looked back at crystal lake. I dare to say she looks younger, more beautiful and free.
"Alpha Penelope," Yuna greets, her voice carrying the practiced elegance I remember from her time at Crystal Lake. "Thank you for receiving me."
I step forward, already reaching to help her up.
Alpha or not, excessive formality has never sat well with me.
However, I freeze.
Lady Yuna's head lifts slightly, her gaze moving past me to land on Matthias. The change is instantly and unmistakable. Her eyes widen, her breath catches audibly and a flush creeps up her neck to paint her cheeks a deep rose.
