Becky’s sister actually wanted to drag me to court.
After she realized she didn’t have a solid case, she resorted to asking for a settlement. She asked for a million dollars.
I didn’t understand her pain, but if a million dollars would make her feel better, I didn’t mind wasting it on her. At least, she would get off my back.
I stopped by my parents’ house after l was done with my lawyer. I hadn’t seen them in a while, and with everything that was going on, they requested to see me.
“Lucas, come here.” My mother pulled me into a warm hug as soon as I stepped foot into the living room. “I missed you so much.”
My lips curled into a soft smile. “I missed you too, ma’am.”
“How are you holding up?” Her expression turned sympathetic as she broke the hug
