The second invoice gave us a reason for the DNA test. Someone hadn't ordered it out of curiosity. Laura had been paid to confirm Ethan's connection to me, and weeks later a test appeared with Amelia's signature forged on the paperwork. I wanted to know what happened between those two things.
"When was the second invoice paid?"
"Two days after it was submitted."
"By Charles?"
"Through the same company."
Amelia took the phone from me again. "Did Laura send anything with the invoice?"
Daniel said he was checking. The records he'd received included invoices and payments, but there could be emails connected to them. Police had requested everything from the company.
"Then we need whatever she sent Charles."
"I agree."
