The heat shimmered and danced off of the asphalt of Lakeshore Drive. Heading north from Lake Souladou;, Jake saw the shoulder length straw colored hair, the bare back and the perfectly shaped lightly tanned buttocks peeking out of the bottom of the nearly obscene denim cut off as the young woman trod along the side of the road. Just as he accelerated, the girl put her left arm out, thumb extended skyward.
Jake pulled to the narrow shoulder just past the girl. The girl did not hurry, just continued fumbling with her cell phone. Jake looked in the rearview mirror; the two lane road was narrow and just past the shoulder, the ground was soft sand.
