Modric’s POV Mary Ann moved into the guest suite across from my bedroom before midnight. I heard every part of it. The servants carried her clothes through the corridor in careful silence. Greta directed them in a low voice, reminding everyone that the Luna needed rest. Boxes of reports followed, then a small writing desk, several books, and the framed wedding portrait that had once been removed from the main rooms. I stood inside my bedroom with the door partly open, watching without appearing to watch. Mary Ann arrived last.
